- Gender recognition in the UK is primarily governed by the Gender Recognition Act 2004.
- The process for those who married in England and Wales is governed by the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013.
- The process for those who married in Scotland is governed by the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Act 2014.
Gender Recognition Certificate Applications
Those wishing to apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) using the standard route will need the following resources:
