Brief Summary

On the 18th of September NHS England held the first NHS Citizen Assembly, where citizens and the NHS England Board discussed important issues for the NHS. This will test how citizens can take forward and discuss issues that have the potential to change what NHS England does in the future.

The final report from the assembly can be accessed by clicking here.

Further Information

In order to support the assembly meeting, NHS Citizen produced an information pack. The pack was created to help everyone taking part in the NHS Citizen Assembly discussions on how the NHS can improve gender identity services. NHS Citizen commissioned NHS England to provide the content that formed this document. You can find the pack in the attachments below.

Alongside the meeting there was also an online conversation via Twitter. You can catch up on those discussions by looking back at the history of the #nhscitizen hashtag for generic issues and #nhsgenderid hashtag (see box on the right of this article) for gender identity issues. This is a graphical representation of the most frequently used words in the #NHSGenderID discussions.

A live video stream of the meeting was shown on the day, and a recording is available for viewing on the NHS Citizen Webcast Website. The meeting was also captured into a graphical representation of the discussions. Click the image for a larger view.

NHS Citizen have also released a number of photos from the event.

Several attendees also gave short interviews to NHS Citizen which have been published on YouTube
